Napa Mediation Center assists people and organizations to resolve conflict of all kinds, on an affordable basis.

What is Mediation?

Mediation is an alternative to the expensive and time consuming use of the court system.

Mediation is a way for people to work out their own problems and remain in control of the resolution of their dispute.

Mediation is not a form of private judging.  Rather, it is a guided conversation conducted with the aid of an experienced impartial third party, whose job is to facilitate discussions between opposing parties, even when they are angry or upset, with the goal of getting to a voluntary agreement.

What Does a Mediator Do?

Mediators are trained and skiled in helping people examine their situation in terms of their needs and interests.

Mediators are neutral, favor no side over the other, and have none of their personal interests involved in the dispute.

Mediators typically assist the parties in gathering information, discussing settlement options, and realizing a positive result.

The Benefits of Mediation

Mediation is voluntary.  All parties must agree to submit their dispute to mediation and all must agree on an outcome to end it.

Mediation enables the parties to stay in control.

Mediation is an opportunity to resolve conflicts before or after you go to court.

Mediation is much less expensive than litigation.

Mediation avoids the ripple effects from conflicts left unresolved or taken to court.

Mediation may keep the dispute private by staying out of court.

Mediation is collaborative.  Successful mediation makes all sides of a dispute the "owners" of the agreement because they come up with it together.

At Napa Mediation Center, our mission is to help you make peace.

How may we help you?
